Importing Service

Kansai Automotive now offers a Importing Service to our customers.

For a small service fee of $800+GST we will help you to import your choosen vehicle directly from Japan.

With auctions every week and an average of 9000 cars at auction on a saturday with one sold every 5-10 seconds on average, we will be sure to get you the car you desire.

To start the process, first is to contact us on 08 8447 1025 or come in and speak to us about what car you would like, how much you are willing to spend, whether the car is stock or modified, we can cater for all your needs.

The next step is for us to relay that information to our contact in Japan and let him find the car for you. If something is seen that meets or nearly meets your requirements, you will be contacted via email or phone and pictures will be sent showing the car that has been found.

If you are then happy with that vehicle, we will then place a bid on the vehicle.

Should that bid be succesfull, we will then contact you to arrange payment for the vehicle direct to japan.

Once payment is made we can then help you organise complaince and DOTARS approval. You will need this before the vehicle can be placed on the ship, due to Australian laws stating you need import approval before shipping the vehicle.

The next step is to arrange shipping and transport. There are two ways of shipping with one of them being roll on, roll off where your vehicle is simply driven onto the ship. This has higher level of theft and damage but costs less. There is also the use of a container, which is alot more secure and safer, but does cost more due to increase's in container costs in australian port's. The container is a non operational refrigerated (NOR) container and your vehicle is the only car in there. With it strapped down to each corner there is little to zero chance of damage.

The most common method of shipping is a RORO service (roll-on/roll-off) - this means that your car is driven onto the ship in Japan and driven off again in Australia. The potential for vehicle damage and/or theft is higher than a container shipping, so we would obviously prefer not to ship this way unless you choose to have insurance. Shipping insurance is normally around 3.5% of the FOB cost (eg. Nissancosting 900,000 yen FOB should cost 31,500 yen to insure, or around AU$450)
Normal shipping times for a RORO service is around 12-18 days depending
on the port of loading and discharge. (note that non-driving or accident damaged cars may be towed or carried off the ship)

Once the car has landed we can help you pay customs, and all other associated costs so your car can be sent to a compliance company. In helping you pay for these costs, you will see the bill and that is what you will pay, no hidden extras, just the amount on the bill.

Once your vehicle is cleared from the docks, it will be taken to be complied and registered. For this we would allow $3000 plus the cost of tyres and registration on top.

Once your vehicle is complied and registered, it will either be delivered to your door, or available for pick up from our shop.

All up it can be a stressful exercise to import a car but that is why we are here to help.

So if you want your dream car, call us on 08 8447 1025 and we will help you make your dream a reality.
